The Mediation Practice

Mediation is the process by which you, the parties, determine your own outcomes by finding common ground on issues that may at first glance, or even second glance, seem to be resolvable only by benefiting one party at the expense of the other.

In most instances, the challenge to solution identification arises because while the parties' interests are interdependent, they have also become opposed.

Mediation brings a trained, neutral third party into the "mix" who is educated in specific skills and techniques designed to shed light on possible solutions that are discovered and/or created by the parties themselves.

This co-creative solution process is where all the benefits of Mediation begin.

I recall when I practiced law and the parties simply could not seem to reach a mutually agreed

upon settlement. The Master, who officiated at the pre-trial Settlement Conference much like a

judge,  would caution the parties as follows:

"Today will be the last day that you yourselves get to decide the disposition of all that you have

accumulated over the years, as well as the issues relating to custody of your children.

After today, I get to make those decisions and I will not likely make them in a way that leaves

either of you satisfied or very happy."

Those couples who were astute enough to understand what the Court was advising them usually spent the day in the hallway settling their case with the assistance of their attorneys.  Others, who were not so aware, went on to spend thousands and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars litigating their cases to a frequently unsatisfactory end.

                                                 MEDIATION is the ANSWER!

As a former divorce lawyer, I know well the cost of litigation.  As a former party to my own divorce, I learned as well the hidden costs of protracted litigation... both emotional and psychological.

Each of those is a cost very few people, if any, can afford to pay.

I came to The Mediation Practice with a spiritual approach to guiding you through conflict resolution. My goals are harmony, unity and where possible assisting you to reach the highest good for all concerned.

As with all good Mediators, my role is not to decide your issues for you. My role is to support and guide you in finding and refining your own solutions to your own unique situations.

No one knows better than you what you have experienced that brings you to Mediation and no one other than you knows better how you would like to be situated after resolving your differences.  What gets in the way of you accomplishing that end is the emotional and psychological stress of what you are going through.

With your innate wisdom and my dispassionate guidance and professional experience, you will co-create solutions that will allow you to reach your goals.
